Next, the Hibiscus Plant is a member of the “mallow” family which containers over 300 varieties of trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals. We typically carry Tropical Hibiscus, Rose of Sharon, and Giant or Rose Mallow Hibiscus in our Nurseries during Spring. Here are some tidbits about each:

• Tropical Hibiscus originate in warmer climates away from freezing temperatures. They have large, vibrant flowers with glossy green foliage.
• Rose of Sharon Hibiscus are usually upright shrubs with medium sized blooms. Find them in pastels of blue, lavender, pink, and white! They are drought tolerant and prefer full sun. Mom will love her Rose of Sharon as a hedge or as a centerpiece in her flower bed!
• Giant Hibiscus/Rose Mallow Hibiscus have huge flowers that come in a variety of reds, pinks, purples, and whites. These perennials prefer full sun in moist, well-drained soil. Cut them back to 4 to 6 inches above the ground in the Fall and add mulch at the base for further Winter protection. Mom will get years of color from them, as they return in late May to Early July each time!
