Christmas Trends 2019: Trees, Trimmings, and More
Each year we look forward to decorating over a dozen pre-decorated Christmas trees for our Home & Garden stores. While Christmas is timeless, the decorating trends change each year. We look to trends in home decor and fashion to deliver our customers beautiful, unique, on-trend styles, and the ornaments and accessories they need to bring those trends into their homes for the holiday season. Here are our fifteen tree inspirations for Christmas trends 2019.
Natural and Nordic
One of the biggest Christmas decor trends this year is Nordic and Scandinavian-inspired. Since many Scandinavian countries only get a few hours of full sunlight a day in the winter months, they opt to bring the outdoors inside at Christmas. Check out our nature-inspired Christmas trends:
The Trees
Four of our pre-decorated Christmas trees this year take inspiration from natural Nordic design. They range from rustic and understated to shimmery showstoppers, but all take cues from the outdoors in winter.
Woodland Path
Pinecones, dried grasses, and woodland creatures adorn this tree (video coming soon.) This style complements a real Christmas tree perfectly, allowing its natural beauty to shine through between the ornaments and decorations. A neutral color palette creates a serene paradise, bringing the peaceful vision of untouched snow indoors. The Woodland Path tree will look beautiful in any home, from very traditional to uber-modern.
Fox Hunt
With a simple red, white, and metallic palette, the Fox Hunt theme is simple but bold. Frosted greenery and berries pair beautifully with animal-inspired ornaments to create the perfect tree for any traditional or modern farmhouse-style home. An enormous tartan plaid bow sits atop the Fox Hunt tree, making it a breathtaking design for the Christmas season.
Winter Botanicals
This gorgeous neutral tree (video coming soon) combines shades of green and snowy white for a natural, Scandinavian look. The Winter Botanicals tree is everything we love about winter; it’s a celebration of the brisk outdoors within the comfort of your cozy home. Metallic pinecones and over-sized glass ornaments with delicate patterns transform your home into a dazzling winter wonderland.
Icy Shivers
Our Icy Shivers tree is inspired by the feeling of the outdoors after a big winter storm, when tree branches are heavy with snow. This heavily adorned tree is for those who love sparkle, glitter, and anything over the top. Its stunning palette of silver, champagne, and icy blue is striking but just neutral enough to fit in with any interior decor. If you want a show-stopping tree this year, Icy Shivers is the perfect tree for you.
Quick Design Tips and Tricks
In order to keep the design theme going throughout the house, try these quick tips and tricks for a nature-inspired holiday wonderland:
- Convey warmth with ambient light from lanterns, candles, and string lights.
- Choose warm white over clear for string lights inside and outdoors.
- Keep outdoor and indoor Christmas decorations simple — don’t overdo it.
- Switch out wall prints for winter landscape photography or animal-inspired illustrations.
- Keep textiles neutral — there’s no need to switch out couch pillows or kitchen towels to red and green.
Dreamy Destinations
The grass is always greener elsewhere, which leaves many people dreaming of somewhere warmer (or colder) each winter. These pre-decorated Christmas trees are inspired by our desire to travel, explore, and roam.
Where the Buffalo Roam
Trendy buffalo plaid finds its place on our western-inspired Christmas tree. This tree features very few traditional baubles, opting instead for soft fabric ornaments, ribbons, and poinsettias. Snow dusted berries and pinecones bring the wilderness indoors, even if the buffalo are roaming hundreds of miles away. This bold tree is one of the trendiest trees of the year, and also one of our personal favorites.
Beachy Keen
If warmer weather is the first item on your Christmas list this year, the Beachy Keen theme is just what you need. This unique theme mixes glistening pastel ornaments with natural driftwood and seashells, and tops it all off with delicate starfish and seahorses for a natural touch. The Beachy Keen theme is perfect as an accent tree for powder rooms and bedrooms, but can also be the star of the show, whether you live at the beach or in the city.
Christmas Village
This tree transports you into the cozy Christmas villages from your favorite holiday movies. A simple palette of red, white, and light wood laser cut ornaments makes for a classic but showy tree. Many of the ornaments feature fair isle print, which, while timeless, is especially on trend this year. We especially love this tree when styled in the kitchen or den for an added touch of hominess.
Williamsburg Charm
This classic tree (video coming soon) brings the southern charm with tones of red, green, ivory, and gold mixed with richly textured ribbons and delicate glass ornaments. Magnolias, metallic pineapples, and glittery cardinals finish off this traditional tree, making it a gorgeous centerpiece for a formal living or dining room.
Quick Design Tips and Tricks
Transform your entire home into a Christmas destination wonderland with these quick and easy decorating tips:
- Don’t be afraid to get eclectic. Show off your unique style across the house with destination trinkets, photos, and souvenirs.
- Get crafty. Buy clear plastic or glass ornaments and fill them with sand, shells, or dried greenery from your theme destination.
- Stick with a color palette. If you’re going for a less traditional theme for your tree, choose a simple color palette to unify your indoor Christmas decorations.

The tree features a variety of textures like resin, glass, and faux fur to make a playful and eccentric centerpiece.
